X Factor 2010: Cher Lloyd struggles with vocal problems
X Factor hopeful Cher Lloyd is said to be struggling with a recurring vocal problem.
The 16 year old from Malvern in Worcestershire was first seen impressing Cheryl Cole, Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Natalie Imbruglia at her initial audition, when she sang Turn My Swag On by Soulja Boy. (The Keri Hilson version). On last night’s bootcamp show, Cher wowed Nicole Scherzinger with her original take on Coldplay’s Viva La Vida.
However, the strain of constant singing is said to have taken its toll on Lloyd and at one point, doctors even told her not to speak for fear of damaging her voice even more.
An insider told The Daily Star:
“Cher has really been struggling with her voice through the Boot Camp stages.
“It’s become so bad that doctors ordered her not to speak and she has been writing things down on paper instead.
“It seems the pressure of being branded the favourite and Cher’s constant singing and rehearsing has taken its toll.
“She’s devastated that her dream of winning could be over because of a sore throat.
“If she’s lucky enough to get through she fears that she will end up being unable to perform.”

X Factor’s Cher Lloyd goes up against old rival
Cher Lloyd: Came face to face with old rival during Boot Camp. Pic: TalkbackThames
X Factor wannabe Cher Lloyd came face to face with an old rival during the Boot Camp stage of the contest, according to a report.
The 17-year-old had previously competed with Ellice Chidlow in local singing contest called “The Text Factor”, says The Sun.
Chidlow beat Cher to claim the £2,500 first prize in the competition.
A source told The Sun: “Ellice is a far more accomplished performer than Cher.
“She is a year older and has more experience and more confidence.
“Ellice could just walk into a building and just perform whereas Cher is very nervous and often shakes before going out on stage.
“It will be interesting to see them go-to-head again but if it’s self-belief that is the key, Ellice will win all the way.”

'Extra attention' available for X Factor's Cher Lloyd
X Factor bosses have promised extra special attention for wannabe Cher Lloyd, according to a report.
The production staff will look after the youngster if she manages to make the live finals of the singing contest.
Sources told the Daily Mail that Cher appeared to be "showing the strain" of competition during the Boot Camp stage of this year's contest.
An insider is quoted as telling the newspaper: "Everyone was worried about Cher, she was extremely nervous and shaking at some points.
"She is quite bolshy on stage, but she sat by herself at lunch. She didn't eat much and looked frail and vulnerable as she was accompanied by a member of production.
"If she gets through to the live shows next month - which she is a shoo-in for - she will have to be given a bit of extra special attention. She is very young."
The show insider added: "We take great care with our contestants and ensure that they can cope with the strain that comes with taking part on the X Factor."

X Factor: Cher Lloyd and Aiden Grimshaw defy boot camps orders as they become ’secretly in love’
Simon Cowell made a point of ordering his boot camp hopefuls not to become romantically involved with each other.
So he is bound to lose his famous temper when he finds out that Cher Lloyd and Aiden Grimshaw are secretly in love.
X Factor sources say Cher, 17, has grown increasingly close to 18-year-old Aiden - who became a bookies' favourite after his performance on Saturday night - and the pair got together during boot camp.
The news is sure to infuriate Cowell after his strict dictum to housemates and comes after the supremo instructed his minders to keep a close eye on any of the performers under the age of 21.
Last night, the boot camp insider told the Daily Mirror: "Cher and Aiden are both really keen on each other and basically spend every free minute together.
"Cher had a crush on Aiden right from the start but it took a couple of weeks for the feeling to become mutual.
"They are desperate to keep their romance a secret because, given recent events, relationships between the contestants are really frowned upon in this series.
"Simon has laid down the law with the boot camp people and insisted there would be no girls in the boys' rooms after dark, no relationships, no drinking, no smoking, no e x c e s s i v e noise and no bad behaviour. He made it very clear no one is bigger than the show and everyone is expendable, so if they break the rules they are out."
Terrified their romance will lead to them being kicked off the hit ITV1 show, the singing sensations are trying to keep things under wraps.

The source added: "Obviously they have been trying to keep things lowkey when they are out in public.
"They aren't being overly affectionate with each other in front of the other cast and crew members, but they have been spotted on more than one occasion.
"But the minute they get some free time they seek each other out and spending lots of time gazing into each other's eyes and fooling around.
"It's fair to say that everyone in boot camp knows that they have fallen for each other. It's so obvious."
Blackpool boy Aiden is the second contestant on the show to have been romantically linked to Cher, from Malvern, Worcs.
She is also said to have grown close to 16-year-old Liam Payne - but the teen sensation insists the pair are just good friends.
News of Aiden and Cher's secret comes in the week X Factor fans were left fuming after it was claimed that Chloe Mafia, 20, works as a prostitute - but was still put through to boot camp by Cowell.
The programme has also come under scrutiny over the recent autotuning crisis, with people who auditioned around the country claiming that their voices were made to sound better or worse with the aid of technology.

Cher Lloyd is the X-Factor hopeful who is making waves on the web this weekend after an amazing performance at Saturday night’s audition. But who is she? Learn more here, and see the video below.

There have already been a number of worthy competitors on this year’s competition—and things are just getting started. It seems the show has finally been able to shake the first few scandals of the season and get underway. Now that the wild, growling, spasmatic Shirlena is gone and auto-tune is banned from the show, we can get down to business.
And business it was Saturday night when Cher Lloyd (above left) took to the stage to perform her own ‘Turn My Swag On.’ The performance was a refreshing change from some of the big numbers that the singers try to pull off. There is nothing worse than hearing an amateur butcher a classic.
When asked about her song choice, the 17-year-old said: “I didn’t want to sing Mariah or Whitney – I wanted to shock people.” It was apparently shocking enough to capture Cheryl Cole’s attention, who admitted she would like to mentor Cher. Leading up to the audition, the media was quick to compare the two, so it is only fitting.
Even with all of the praise from the judges and the audience, Cher admitted to the Mirror that she gets jittery before performing:
“I always get nervous before I sing, to the stage where people think I am not going to be able to do it…Then when I get on stage normally I am fine. I just turn into a different person. It is weird.”
After Saturday’s performance, the young lady is doing some rounds on the morning talk show circuit in the UK. She is actually heavily favored to win, some say by 9-2 odds.
